Update 1/19/2017 : Pepper's doing great with her foster and two furry foster siblings ! She has completed the initial 30 days of antibiotics in preparation for the heartworm treatment. Her initial heartworm treatment starts 1/9 . She will be treated during the day and then observed for 24 hours before being sent home. Heartworm treatment is both painful and can be painful so our vet watches her reaction carefully.  Please keep Pepper in your thoughts and prayers.

Pepper's luck has changed ! Used by a backyard breeder she was discarded at  high kill shelter with her puppies.......her pups were adopted and she was left behind until a wonderful volunteer contacted us !

Knowing her life was on the line we were lucky to find a foster with an open spot.

Unfortunately after we had her vetted we found her to be heartworm positive but otherwise in good health, with a very sweet and gentle personality. She is currently fostered with 3 other large dogs and fine with them , we don't know yet about cats or smaller dogs.

She has been started on the first course of her treatment and is available for adoption. (During heartworm treatment she should not engage in high activity, like ball playing or rough and tumble play with other dogs......leashed walks are perfectly fine and she walks well on the leash. No other restrictions are necessary)

If interested in adopting Pepper, please contact ASR.......she can be adopted prior to completion of her treatment ; as long as she can be treated by one of our vets we will continue to be responsible for the expenses of her treatment.

Heartworm treatment is expensive ......estimate for her care will be about $850, donations toward her care are gratefully accepted and during the month of December matched by our " Secret Santa ".

If you are not yet approved to adopt from All Shepherd Rescue, please fill out our online application at www.allshepherdrescue.com. Our adoption fee is $300.00.
