Leila is out of surgery!

Updates from Leila's foster mom:

2/26/13: I just received a call from the Dr who did Leila's procedure...She did wonderful!! Much better then they could ever have hoped for. When we got to her appointment Monday and they did another echo they found other complications and we had a hard decision to make on the spot.  So happy that I can report she is doing great and getting lots of attention in recovery. YAY!!!

2/27/13: Leila is happy to be home. Was so excited to see her fur siblings.  Another bump in the road this morning in recovery but all is well now.

3/21/13: Hi everyone.. Leila here.

I wanted to stop by and let everyone know how I am. My heart feels so much better. I haven't fallen over since I had what my mom calls the balloon procedure. Balloons?? did I have a party?

I have more energy and can keep up with the big dogs in the house. They know I am in charge because I am so cute. I hear mom say I need some training. She tells everyone I get away with a lot because my heart was broken and I am so cute. Mom makes my brother and sister behave so it was only a matter of time before I would have to.

I love my treats but mom tries to sneak my heart pills in with them. I usually can find them and try to spit out but it doesn’t work, mom caught onto that really quick.

I want to thank everyone who donated money to All Shepherd Rescue to fix my broken heart and save my life.  I am not totally patched up yet. I still need follow up testing done which costs more money. Please donate if you can. You not only help me but all of my rescue friends at ASR. We only want what all people and animals alike want. To be loved and have a furever home of our very own.

5/21/13:  Leila went back to UPENN yesterday for her follow up visit and echo. Leila had the balloon valvuloplasty back in February for her pulmonic stenosis.  Based on her follow up echo it seems that her valve has closed back up and the procedure was not a success.  She will be maintained on medication to regulate her heart rate. the vet was hopeful in the fact that she hasn't had any syncope episodes since the procedure. Although her condition is very severe.

Leila is such a love and doesn't know she is sick. Right now she is loving life and loving her family and her fur siblings Remi & Rocky.  The best we can do is give her a great life as long as we can.
